Effect of polymer water retaining agent on physical properties of silty clay

Abstract Background Ecological protection of slope surfaces by vegetation is one the effective methods to reduce soil erosion. However, surface often has problems poor structure and low water use efficiency, which not conducive plant growth. Super absorbent resin (SAR) as a new type retention agent can effectively improve slopes. The study was designed evaluate effect mechanism SAR on aggregate stability, characteristics mechanical strength analyzing characteristics, moisture microstructure properties SAR-treated soil. Results results show that (1) volume expansion shrinkage in process absorption release loosened soil, improved increased content, while change pore distribution significantly affected soil–water characteristics; (2) fractal dimension stability aggregates, cohesion internal friction angle soils all tend decrease with increasing SAR; (3) strong increases holding capacity thus availability. Conclusions above research further revealing good role improving slope, promoting growth environmental effect. It provide experimental data support for application polymer retaining agents. Graphical
